I own a Piaggio electric van, it is only used for local journeys as its range is limited to 18 miles. I use it for fetching groceries and news paper. private use only, mileage not exceeding 1200 per year. I belong to the battery vehicle society. I am having difficulty obtaining insurance. can you help? it is 10.5 kw 96volt

Just got back from a trip to London (first one since I was a kid) and I really enjoyed myself. But I couldn’t believe the diesel fumes! It was slightly better in the parks and surprisingly right in the center of the city and ventually I got used to them, but it was great to breath fresh air back home.

I know it’s a big city but seriously it stinks – literally. If anything can be done to reduce the diesel pollution it can only be a good thing – for the people who live and work there and their health.

This a great informative blog..it is a mind twister to use magic fluid. Technology is really growing so fast that even a magic fluid had been invented to make our lives easier. A new innovation that will surely prosper in less than a year.

I’m thinking of an electric car or at least a hybrid for my next purchase. I really appreciated your post!

However, although what you say is true, this is a rapidly evolving technology. It’s just equivalent to the early Henry Ford days at this point. The goal is to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels, and even though some electricity production relies on oil it’s not as bad as gasoline consumption.

I expect there’ll be lots of ‘bumps in the road’ along the way but if we fast-forward 25 years I am convinced the majority of cars on the road at that time will not use gasoline.

There’s a tinge of a public spending tightening in UK and, as I understand it, there are more things to prioritize. The industry here is doing relatively well, but the business environment outlook is still mixed, with the economic importance of vehicle manufacturing and the jobs in supplier companies not to be underestimated.

Isn’t it about time that we recognize the ethanol program as another subsidy to mega-farms and not a real solution to the energy crisis in the US and the world? If the same energy was directed at renewable energy sources like solar, wind, water and the tides, how long would it take for the technical superiority of our country to develop cheap, renewable energy sources that don’t damage the environment and provide inexpensive, healthy ways to power our cars, trucks, industries and homes? Ten years? Twenty years?

Does anyone really think that this is not possible? And what of the impact on countries like Russia, China, India, Brazil, the Africas and Europe that would not have to pursue a dwindling source of energy which raises the cost of everything for everyone?

This may not solve the world’s problems but it would surely move us in a better direction.
