Frankfurt Motor Show – Enhanced Logos and Greener Cars
The 63rd Frankfurt Motor show will be somewhat different if not very different from the previous event. In just two years time electric cars would have made a swift move from the concept section to product model stands.
Although many car manufacturers will announce or display an electric car model, all eyes are set on General Motors. Now that 55pc of Opel shares have been given to Canadian-Russian investors, the division’s future is uncertain. It is known, though, that Opel will get a logo face-lift. Despite of the boat being shaken, Opel will show their innovative model Ampera. Not a concept, I shall note – it goes on sale in 2011.
Audi, another company to show-off an enhanced logo, too has an important electrical announcement to make.
Hyundai is planning to present three greener cars, including the Elantra LPI electric.
Everyone is waiting to check out the Toyota Prius Plug-in hybrid. As the name suggests, it will be possible to re-charge a Prius and use it without petrol engine on short runs. That is if 12 miles can get you to the shop and back. Not that I am complaining – the current Toyota Prius model can go only 6 miles without switching on the petrol engine. Another top-of-the range hybrid car is expected from Toyota-owned Lexus brand.
Frankfurt Motor show opens its doors to the public between 17 and 27 September.
