Is it PSA Peugeot Citroen Mitsubishi?

9 December 2009 No Comment

Allegedly the French automotive giant wants to purchase a control share in Japanese Mitsubishi Motors.

The most obvious reason for two companies wanting to join their forces is cutting the operational costs (read: more job losses). I am sure this is the case with the upcoming Franco-Japanese alliance, however, there is another hidden player in this game and that is the Mitsubishi i-miev electric car. Apparently it is very good (according to some independent tests) and its platform would allow PSA to build their own electric cars.

If the deal goes through we will have a huge international car manufacturer with its tentacles spread all over the planet. For us, consumers, it means better prices and the i-miev is an expensive little car so there would be no harm in cutting the price a little.
