Siemens to Build Recharging Systems for Electric Cars

10 December 2009 No Comment

The German giant Siemens after pulling out of the mobile phone market (nostalgic sigh, my first five mobiles were all Siemens :( ) have pulled a new trick out of the hat.

Recharging systems for electric cars will go live soon in countries like Denmark, Germany and USA. Denmark most likely is at the top of the queue because the recharging system was born in the labs of RISO at Dansk Technical university.

The maximum output of the Siemens model is 40 kW and it will enter the mass production around the year of 2020. At least according to company’s own estimation. That is if the current electric car technology is still current on 2020.

Siemens is already known for research in the electric car field. They are also promoting the idea that electricity for the cars should be generated by wind turbines. Where else to start the campaign than in Denmark – the leader of the world when it comes to wind turbines. 20% of Danish electricity is generated by wind.
