Th!nk Electric Car

Th!nk Electric Car

The Norwegian electric car guru Think (also known as Th!nk) has confirmed that it is executing a huge North American expansion plan. As much as $40 million has been raised to ensure that electric car production can start in their Elkhart, Indiana motor plant in spring 2011. However, that doesn’t mean Americans will have to wait a whole year in order to buy a Think car. It is likely that Think will start exporting the cars built in the Valmet plant in Finland as early as autumn this year.

Imagine how disappointed the Ford guys are? As you maybe remember, they owned the Think project for several years before they decided there was no potential in electric cars and got rid of the company in 2006.

Meanwhile Th!nk has secured benevolence of companies like Rockport Capital and Ener1. Some of the existing European based investors have also backed the North American expansion. The Think car will do nicely in the U.S. – it is one of the few electric cars to have successfully undergone safety tests. It will be a major selling point for the small Norwegian company.
