Volkswagen to have a Chief Electrician
A new position has been established at Volkswagen - Group chief officer for Electric Traction. The first person to take up this position will be the Dortmund university guru Karl-Thomas Neumann. He has previously worked for Motorola, Carmeq GmbH and SupplyOn AG. He was quite an important figure within the ranks of Continental AG before falling out with the owners of the tyre company.
Karl-Thomas Neumann is coming back to a familiar environment - he worked for Volkswagen as a Head of Electronics in 1999 - that was the time when the electric car was officially still dead. Ten years on - the situation has changed completely and VW is keen to have their own say on the electric car market. Now they will have a chance - Neumann is one of the best.
